Hey guys!

In some general C&C related news, Steam is having a one day only sale on all available Command & Conquer games. As part of EA's promotional work during E3, EA is having a special sale on select franchises every day until Sunday. For Wednesday April 16th, all newer Command & Conquer games are on discount.

The deals are as follows:

50% off C&C 3: Tiberium Wars - $14.99USD
50% off C&C 3: Kane's Wrath - $9.99USD
50% off C&C: Red Alert 3 - $14.99USD
50% off C&C: Red Alert 3: Uprising - $4.99USD
30% off C&C 4: Tiberian Twilight - $33.49USD

(Steam page located here)

If you have some of the newer C&C games, but are still missing a few, now would be a good chance to get them. This sale will end 10:00AM PST on Thursday June 17th, so get it while you can.

The Command & Conquer Steam sale is now over. However, the first three games are still available for free on the official C&C website.

Nice try EA, but
1) Make a better C&C 4 first.
2) I wouldn't buy something off steam if it was the only place to do so.

I won't be buying C&C4 unless it's available for 10€. Or maybe even 5€, it's barely worth more than that.

Why not? It works, it has nice offers like those pretty often, some exclusive and kewl minigames, automatic updates for games, friendslist with chat etc., achievements, you name it.

I don't understand anti-Steam folk lol. But they're funny. Then again I tried explaining that to a colleague at work but he hates it too much for no reason to see the good sides and likes to play WoW instead emot-keke.gif.

1) Download your registered Steam games free of charge
2) No real DRM (sans having to run Steam)
3) All games automatically updated
4) Fantastic deals on a superb collection of games
5) ???
6) Worthwhile platform.

That counts. If I can't have a 100% offline copy saved to disk that is usable from one OS reinstall to the next, then I'm not happy. It also annoys me stuff like Steam is needlessly adding to the Wine developers workload. AFAIK, Steam is still a barrier to such things.

likes to play WoW instead

No, I'd probably get carpal tunnel syndrome playing that.

If Steam didn't have an offline mode, I wouldn't bother using it myself. But it does.

I wouldn't use Linux if it were the only free OS out there. emot-v.gif

I tried launching Steam without an internet connection once. It didn't work. Is there a hidden "offline mode" button somewhere?

If you are trying to launch it without a network connection, it should quickly offer you the opportunity to run offline. It does for me, anyhow.

If you are online and have Steam open, you can go to the Steam menu at the upper left and click Go Offline. If you quit Steam in offline mode, it should ask you the next time you load it whether you want to run it offline.

Interesting BattleLaf. However, even if Steam can be run offline, I still dislike having to run some piece of software to run other software.

Also, just because Linux isn't ready for your desktop doesn't mean it's not ready for mine. :V

Do you just beam games directly into your head then? Because the operating system is still software. emot-haw[1].gif

Also consider that games run faster when they're run from the hard drive, vs running them from the CD drive.

BUT LINUX R BESTIST!11one I R LEET.

But seriously, I never understood why people feel it neccessary to run Windows/Mac products on Linux. Also please don't bore me about how "awesome" it is, I really don't care.

There is no steam --> go offline when you're not online in the first place. This window is all you get until your Steam is updated, which can't happen without an internet connection.
