It's Late, So I'm Going To Keep This Short (For Now)![]() ... ![]() ... ![]() ... ![]() I'm making a new launcher for the game. As you can see, it works, or at least the Direct Connect functionality does. This will ship with Nuclear Winter. And Here's A Pair Of Binoculars![]() ![]() Binoculars will be issued to Captains and Kapitans in Gamma. These are the Allied ones. Binoculars basically do what you'd expect, allow you to see really far. Their zoom range will be much higher than either of the Sniper scopes, so you'll be able to check out the other edge of the map with these babies. Great for reconnaissance. We might also consider giving the commandos (Tanya and Volkov) binoculars as well. |

===Launcher===
Very very nice. The new launcher is cool. However, will there be an option to save servers? Just like our current launcher? ===Binoculars=== I always felt it was right to give officers binoculars (I think I'm taking stuff from cnc reborn). Anyway, I think commandos should get binoculars. As a professional commando knows better than to get directly into combat. They would see who is there, then decide whether to go or not. Uses for binoculars: See if the guy in that ore field is a shocky, or a rifle troop Get a good look at those vehicles And more... Also, while I am talking about officers, will they get the fake flares? Like you were planning when Aircraft killer was here... This post has been edited by Generalcamo: Jul 10 2010, 07:04 AM |

Volkov getting Binoculars would mean we get to see that hand-cannon animation again.

Awesome work. I think spies should wield binoculars as well, so they can spot and evade foes ahead.

Epic. Especially to see LTs coming from far away.
I totally agree to giving Commandos binoculars. For Spies and Thiefs, that's to study just a bit - but I think it's right. |

The binoculars sound kind of useless. Unless you will be able to zoom past the fog or something I'm not sure if they'll be worth using. You can already see across most maps if line of sight isn't blocked my terrain or fog. Also, when a unit is rendered at a long distance it can take ~5 seconds for its movement to update so it doesn't seem that using it for long range scouting will be any better than current methods.
Also, will this launcher stay open when you launch the game? It's annoying to have to re-open it every time. This post has been edited by ArcticPrism: Jul 10 2010, 03:21 PM |

The soviet one should be a single binocular. As Wally says, this makes no sense. Perhaps you meant a telescope. You can see unit/structure health. For base defenses and if not all main structures are shown on the K screen, this is very useful indeed. Just think how useful it would be for a Technician or Engineer to have something like this, to be able to see what structures need repairing without needing to get within pistol range of each one. |
