If there is a god then I'd have to favour "stupid-design": we're not a particularly well constructed animal - we're frail, butt-ugly and, despite being comparitively more intelligent than our surrounding creatures, are not even particularly bright. We're also intent on blowing ourselves up and if we were created in the image of god, then I daren't think what qualities he might possess.

Well that's all very well, but here's one that people seem to shy away from. If you take a colony of macaques and kill the least intelligent 33% each generation for several thousand generations then their intellect would eventually surpass that of the average human.
