Somber news Jun 18 2009, 01:15 PM Chronojam |
DJ Bloodmoss, one of our testers and a n00bstories radio DJ and IRC regular, apparently passed away recently, according to a family member notifying friends on his buddy lists. Only 32 years old, it was probably caused by a stroke; although the final report is not in, he was known to have medical concerns about his heart in the past and that is what was suggested by the messages that have been left. We'll miss him. Many of you knew him as a friend, and this is quite tragic news indeed. |

In other news, Planet CNC has turned 10 over the weekend. They've also posted up a wishlist for the next 10 years which is worth the read. Hurrah for them. |

Map Changes on Official Server Jun 7 2009, 12:05 PM Chronojam |
Bonzai!Hey everybody, just a few notices in advance of tonight's blog. As noted in the launcher news, you can now play Bonzai on the official server! For some reasons we couldn't pin down earlier, we had some serious server performance issues when running on a dedicated server, making it unplayable for the clients. Just the other day, reborn (the guy) solved the problem. As the map was included in your installation, you have nothing more to download; you can begin playing immediately. In Gamma, this map is getting a facelift.
North by NorthwestAnother map you don't need to download, we had some issues with this one where players were being kicked wrongfully when playing on this map. This is being fixed, and it will return to the rotation. It's one of the classic maps you might remember from older versions, with a few more units available despite being a rather "low tech" map. If you like it, good news: it gets a facelift in Gamma.
Tunnel FissureTunnel Fissure, a map edit by ChopBam to expand Fissure a bit and give more tactical opportunities, will be appearing on the server shortly (about a week from now). It will replace the "HT" version of Glacier. If you do not already have this map, please download it right here. Players who do not already have the map will be messaged while playing with a request to download it. For Gamma we'll be introducing Excavation, a map inspired by Fissure but with a lot more flexibility. |

I've been away from the forums and IRC for a littlewhile but hopefully i'll get back into it over the next few weeks, been missing whats going on, which is also why there's been a lack of weekly news items about the APB Development Blogs.
Anyway, Chronojam has posted up a new blog for you all to enjoy. We've got a few goodies to show off this week including the new basic infantry arm meshes and some new Canyon River screenshots, which has been given a facelift and some new visual areas. More reports on testing an a congradulations to Fabian, who is taking a back seat role with the project now that he's gotten a job in the games industry.
